About Us
Our Mission
Campus Progress is a national organization that works with and for young people to promote progressive solutions to key political and social challenges. Through programs in activism, journalism, and events, Campus Progress engages a diverse group of young people nationwide, inspires them to embrace progressive values, provides them with essential trainings, and helps them to make their voices heard—and to push policy outcomes in a strongly progressive direction.

Campus Progress’s work is premised on the idea that young people don’t have to wait to change the world; they have the power right now to tip the balance on critical issues from economic opportunity to environmental sustainability to human rights. At the same time, we work to see that new generations of progressives are better trained, better informed, more inclusive, and more united than ever before – so our country will have leaders with the skills, experience, and vision to address the most important challenges of the future.
On the national level, Campus Progress’s staff and network members mobilize young progressives and advocate for their views in Washington and in key statewide battles. We provide a national platform for young journalists, and we bring young people together through events that move them to action.
On the local level, Campus Progress supports activism, journalism, and events projects run by young people. We give young people training, advice, and resources to help their projects succeed.

Campus Progress combines proven approaches to advocacy and organizing with new creative uses of media and culture to broaden and deepen our impact. We work with young people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we seek to create innovative programs and materials that engage, challenge, and support a diverse group of participants. Backed by the policy expertise of the Center for American Progress, and working in collaboration with a wide range of allies, Campus Progress strives to be an effective, influential, and inclusive organization that helps make new generations a strong force for progressive change.
Much of Campus Progress’s work is done at colleges and universities, but we also work with a range of non-college and post-college young people.
Campus Progress is an active member of collaborations including the Generational Alliance, Energy Action Coalition, Campaign for College Affordability, Free Exchange on Campus, and The Media Consortium.
Even if you’re not a young person anymore, and even if you don’t share our views, we hope you’ll stick around this website. There’s plenty of news, debate, and controversy, great writing, and eye-opening multimedia. Look around, take action, pitch us a story, post your comments.

What We Do
Campus Progress works with young people on their campuses, in their communities, and online:
National Advocacy—Campus Progress represents and mobilizes young people for progressive change on national issues from immigration and LGBT rights to climate change and affordable education.
Action Alliances—Campus Progress provides trainings, advice, and resources to young people working on their own activism campaigns around the country.
CampusProgress.org—Our web magazine offers hard-hitting journalism, analysis, and multimedia on issues of the greatest concern to young people; gives young writers, reporters, artists, and others the chance to publish nationally; and builds a community of progressives interested in issues, ideas, and activism.
Campus Journalism—Campus Progress funds, trains, and mentors students running a diverse and growing group of progressive campus publications, blogs, and even radio/TV stations. Grants and assistance help students promote their publications, expand print runs, sponsor events, and network their web sites with other campus journalism organizations and CampusProgress.org.
Events—Campus Progress works with young people around the country to organize a wide range of local and regional events—speeches, debates, panels, spoken word programs, film screenings. We also hold events in Washington DC, especially a series of summer events that include our annual Campus Progress National Conference.

The Center for American Progress
The Center for American Progress is a nonpartisan research and educational institute dedicated to promoting a strong, just and free America that ensures opportunity for all. We believe Americans are bound together by a common commitment to these values and we aspire to ensure our national policies reflect these values. Our policy and communications efforts are organized around four major objectives:
- Developing a long term vision of a progressive America,
- Providing a forum to generate new progressive ideas and policy proposals,
- Responding effectively and rapidly to conservative proposals and rhetoric with a thoughtful critique and clear alternatives, and
- Communicating progressive messages to the American public.
We work to find progressive and pragmatic solutions to significant domestic and international problems and develop policy proposals that foster a government that is "of the people, by the people, and for the people."
